Miscellaneous

Sometimes the best opportunities for learning and growing as a creative comes from projects done simply for fun, free from the expectations and critiques of design work for clients. Much of my time designing is spent in this mode of thought, so it can be refreshing to simply create for the sake of doing it.

This is a collection of some one-off projects I did simply to learn something new or express myself.

Music Sticker Designs

This first one, I created as a fun tribute to the debut mixtape of one of my favorite hip-hop groups. I referenced the color pallette utilized on the album cover, and incorporated subtle nods to their other releases. In addition, I decided on the main font based around its sleek, sport-y appearance, a reference to their sports background.

The second one was for a jazz group whose music I've been getting more into. Their music features prominent sci-fi and space motifs, so I really wanted to capture that imagery with this. The typeface was featured in an old sci-fi novel, and I used some grain brushes to achieve a nice glowing silhouette, as though the words were moving at lightspeed through the galaxy.

Civic Theatre Promotion

To increase engagement with a local theater's social media feed, I would create graphics promoting upcoming shows. In this instance, I took inspiration from typefaces and color palettes popular in the 70's, and added a textured, dated feel as well.
